WHY
I PROMOTE JET SKI RACES
Race Number 4 was the final
race on Saturday, the first day of a two-round weekend of racing
at Lake Somerville, Texas, and the last weekend for the Texas
Aquamoto Series. It was the Pro-Am Superstock race. Fifty minutes plus two laps on a 1-3/4 mile SuperCourse
track. Over twenty
boats squeezed onto the starting line. After an excitingly
fast start, the top racers had soon made their way up to the front
of the pack, swapping positions as they all tried to get to that
elusive Lead Position. more |

sport news # 20 / 04 - Special Dinant / Belgium / Round # 4 from
the “Corona Extra” European Tour 2004 - August 20-21-22 -
“All you need to know about Dinant”
- How can you explain the race of Dinant? - The city of Dinant
is one of the touristy places in Belgium, a small town in the
valley of the Meuse River, with lots of cafés and restaurants
along the water’s edge. The course is in downtown Dinant and is
probably one of the hardest races in the world. If you have ever
raced there, you will know what I mean, and only great champions
can win there! more |

<08/09/04>The
USWRA Closed Course Top100 has recently been updated. With
the season winding down for most regions and World Finals only 65
days away, the 2004 season is slowly coming to an end. Many
USWRA Top100 rankings are becoming a tight points battle for the
top spots for many different classes. For many riders across
the country they may only have 1 race on the 2004 schedule left to
increase their 2004 USWRA Top100 Ranking. And for many
riders, that final race of the season will have a 1.5x normal
points for a
chance to increase their rankings as
well. In Region 3, on Sept. 18th & 19th the Washington
State Championships in Howard Amon Park, Richland, Washington will
have 1.5x points awarded. In Region 6, the 2nd stop of the
USWRA Triple Crown Challenge on Aug. 8th in Muskegon, Michigan
will have 1.5x points awarded. In Region 9, the 3rd and
final stop of the USWRA Triple Crown Challenge on Sept. 5th, at
Pleasant Hill, Iowa will have 1.5x points awarded. For
the World Finals in October, the USWRA will be awarding 2.0x
(double) points for all USWRA riders who qualify and
participate. Note: We also have decided to take
the rider's top 6 rounds in points in determining their respective
USWRA Top100 ranking. For a few riders in Region 3, they had
accumulated 10 rounds of points. I knocked down their points
to their best 6 rounds to bring their respective points total down
in line with the other Regions. Many other Regions across
the country have Round 6 in their 2004 season coming up
next.

race course for individual time and a shot at the Team Trophy that
was up for grabs. Ray C Seadoo from Lapeer, Michigan graciously donated 2 brand
new Sea-Doo's for this special event. There were nothing but
smiles as each participant came off the race course after hitting
the buoy's on brand New Seadoo Watercraft. This event was

Ohio Race Recap - LAKEVIEW,
OHIO -
What a difference a year makes.
Just a year ago the weather dealt us freezing cold
temperatures, with a blistering wind.
This year on both Saturday and Sunday we had 86 degree
temperatures, with 15-20 mph winds all weekend long.
The winds made for some difficult race conditions for the
riders as they had to deal with choppy waters all weekend long.
But the racing was just phenomenal for the 1st
race weekend of the year. more

<06/20/04>Gary
Wald from St. Clair Shores, Michigan is our latest entry into
watercross.com's Rider Profile Section. Gary has been
racing for 10 years and is a regular on the U.S. Grand National
Watercross Championships. Gary is a great guy, and would do
anything to help out his fellow racer. With Gary being on a
new boat for the 2004 season, the World Championships look
promising. While contending for 3rd place in last year's
World Championships Gary blew a motor. This year he could be
the man to beat in the Novice R/A 1200 Superstock Class. more |

U.S. Grand National Watercross Championships - Round 1 - Lakeview,
Ohio Press Release.
The 2004 US Grand National Watercross Championships,
is returning to Lakeview, Ohio for it’s season opener of
six grueling rounds of extreme watercross racing.
This will be the fourth year personal watercraft races have
been held on Indian Lake. The
event will take place at Old Field Beach, which boasts over 1,200
feet of lakefront beach and plenty of parking, so there is plenty
of room for spectators to bring their family, friends, and beach
chairs to enjoy an excellent view of the racecourse.
Last year Lakeview provided some freezing temperatures as
riders battled not only rider and machine but the weather as well.
With wind chill factors in the teens, I think that was the
coldest weekend in the last 10 years. more

Watercross.com recently attended the 2004 Dealer Expo / 04 Big Twin
at Indianapolis. There
was so many cool products on display it was just unbelievable.
There were tons of tricked out 50's, numerous exotic low-riders, and
several awesome looking crotch rockets. There was also every
aftermarket company in attendance imaginable. It
was truly a trip to the candy store for me. Watercross.com
gave the 04 "Best of Show Award" this year to a brand new
50cc bike that is due out in late 2004. The Derbi 01/100 is
truly an incredible little bike with it's innovative design, and
clean lines. Disc Brakes front and rear complimented by
Marzocchi front Forks all bundled in an Aluminum Frame.
Accented in a Carbon fiber look, with the exhaust pipe located in a
ultra-trick location, this bike will truly be the 50 to have.
"Best of Show" runner up was a cool looking Harley
Davidson conversion by Custom Chrome. The HR3's design, and
looks made for a very appealing street bike. If I could have
walked any bike out the door, this bike is the one I would have
grabbed. I hope you enjoy, there are 75 pictures of the Show
and will only be online for a limited time. here |

A
Racer for the Racer's by Scott Frazier
- I wanted to do a critical reading of the press release presented by the APBA and follow it up with some information that I have uncovered over the past few days, I think it is important that racers and promoters alike are fully informed before making a decision whether to support any plan or proposal for race sanctioning. The bold points in quotes are the passages of the Jan 23, 2004 Press release which I feel raise some red flags. I have obtained a copy of Patrick Mell’s proposal that was circulated to the promoters and have elaborated on some of that proposal’s content within this evaluation. All information obtained in this reading comes from either the press release, the proposal, or interviews with the APBA office, other APBA promoters, boat magazine columnists, IJSBA promoters, and legal searches.
