Endurance Racing.
This past summer, at the Nashville National Tour Race you
were on a Yamaha, and I noticed at the World Championships you were
on a Sea-Doo.
What happened during that time for you to switch ski’s?
KR:
Our
rig was parked for a while in Houston, Texas awaiting the tour stop
in Baytown, and all of our equipment including our two Yamaha race
boats were there as well. I
had a ’98 Sea-Doo XP that I used to race

in
the Limited class that was just sitting and collecting cobwebs, so
we decided to throw some gas in it and go race a local Bullett
event.
I have a lot of history on that particular hull; we actually
bought one of the first ones that rolled off the truck in 1998.
I ended up winning the Pro Superstock class against Region
1’s best that weekend.
The boat felt so good that I knew if it had some more
horsepower, I would be able to win a World Championship on it.
During
the tour, we collected all the pieces we would need to build a fast
Superstock, and when the tour was over, it took my mechanic Steve
Stricklin a little over a month to make our strong Limited
