WC:  I would have to agree, Melissa was riding hard at the end of the 03 Season.  We will look forward to her return.  There’s a company you started up here recently called Goggle Grip, and have been producing a pretty cool product I see on a lot of riders these days. How did you come up with the idea?  And what prompted you to start selling this great new product?

BM: I thought of the idea for Goggle Grip in the summer of ’99. The idea of having some sort of business relations in the PWC market to help fund my racing expenses was my goal.


I was amazed at the time that there was no product available on the market that securely fastened the goggle strap to the helmet.  I was both a duct tape and quick strap guy and was not happy with either method, and I wasn’t alone. About a year later I started sketching out the design for Goggle Grip and eventually did a patent search to see if a similar design existed. We didn’t find anything remotely close through our search. So I filled out the paperwork for a patent.

Shortly after I did some research on Injection molding and began to visit injection molding companies to get some quotes. The first two companies I visited only had interest in quoting me very high estimates and provided me with very vague information. Almost at the point of giving up on the idea, a friend referred me to Basilius, Inc. in Toledo, OH. They were extremely helpful and friendly and thought I had a good idea.  Most importantly,
